Silky's update

Well, Silky is improving, slowly...Her heels are spreading already and her sole and frog are already showing signs of toughening. She has been in her Boa boots and pads. I had added frog support pads to the frogless pads. They were the softest pads and she eventually condensed them to nothing. 2 days ago I moved her to the medium support pads for both sole and frog support.
It's funny tho, I have noticed that when she is w/out boots for 1/2 a day her stress level increases and her eyes get bloodshot. So that has been an indicator to her heel pain.
I have added aspirin and joint juice to her diet about 3 weeks ago, in an attempt to help w/pain and to hopefully improve mobility. I am doing more photos this w/end to show changes when I trim, I will try and get them added.

Silky's barefoot now...

well, I have pulled the eggbars on the paint mare. She's now in Boa boots w/pads that have the frog area cut out. She is actually extending out when she moves and has lost alot of stiffness in the front end. She's still sore of course, it's all new to her, having stimulation and flexation in her hoof capsules, but overall she's moving better.

Trimming horses...

I am a natural barefoot trimmer in the Pacific NW. I am attempting to build my clientel and create a website to sell barefoot horse products that promote horse health. I am a certified farrier that converted to the barefoot methods nearly 3 years ago and have never looked back. All my horses are happy and healthy and going strong, one of which after nearly 20 years of shoeing. I am currently undertaking 2 horses, both of which are in my herd, to bring over barefoot. One has underslung heels and the other is "navicular". The horse with underslung heels has come along way in the last year and is sound as is, I am just working on bringing his feet back into a more natural shape. This weekend we will pull the eggbar shoes on the navicular mare. Stay tuned for pics and more info.
